The DaVinci Code

I saw the movie version of "The DaVinci Code" a couple of weeks ago, and I liked it.

Yes, I liked it.

I don't for the life of me understand why it got such bad reviews in America. Somewhere I heard that the dialogue wasn't very good. To which I say, "what part?" I honestly have no idea. Other than the dialogue comment, I haven't heard anything concrete as to why this movie should have attracted so much ire. My personal opinion is that it was just too complicated for the average movie-goer, but what do I know?

For this reason, I humbly ask of thee, my worthy blogship, to post your comments on what you thought of the movie, if you have an opinion. Why did you love it? Why did you hate it? Do you fall somewhere in between?

(For the sake of full disclosure, I hadn't read the book before seeing the movie. I am currently reading it, however. Yes, I like the book, too. Also I saw the movie in English with Japanese subtitles. I read about maybe half of the subtitles, but they got a little complicated at times for my tiny brain, so I didn't read them for the deeper explanations of symbols, etc.)

  • Hi Mika,

Well I havnt seen the Movie yet. But I think that there is to much information that needs to be given from the book to the movie, that I think that the movie wont be that good as the book.

But I still wanne see it, probably when it comes out on DVD, because of time and money.

    But I loved the book!

    Gr Dave

  • Yes, maybe that was the problem: too many people had already read the book, so the movie was besically ruined for them from the start!

  • I must know: Are you reading the English version or the Japanese translation of the book?

  • English. The Japanese version is split into 3 parts, and you have to buy them all separately. The English version, however, I obtained from my family when I went to my brother's wedding in Taiwan. It's a good read, by the way!
