America or Bust!
Today was a really good day.
Nothing special happened really. Nothing spectatular or really out of the ordinary. It was just a really good day.
I believe that I have come to peace with my decision to go back to America to help take care of my father. I know that I am really looking forward to seeing him again, and beyond that, I think I'm really looking forward to building a life in America. That's something that I never did, after all. After school, I left for Japan almost immediately and subsequently built my life over here. I have worked several jobs, moved half way across the country by myself, gotten married and divorced, came withing inches of buying my own property, attended a host of weddings and funerals, among other things. If I had any goals for life in Japan, I think I've attained them, or at least enough for my satisfaction.
I've had a good life in Japan. Now that that life is drawing to a close, I am quite excited for doing the same in America. It's a great challenge that I'm already having fun planning out. Although I know grinding through the process will not always be very enjoyable, I welcome the challenge.

I wish you all the best Mikawa! Japan will miss you and I think you will miss Japan as well... but I agree taking a new challenge is a nice thing to do.
Thank you! Yes, I will certainly miss being in Japan. I realize though that I'll miss it more if I agonize over it. Hopefully someday I'll be able to come back for more than just a short stay!
Man, I can't believe that you're actually leaving. I was really looking forward to hanging out with you on my next trip back. It's truly the end of an era.
I'm glad that you have a good attitude about the move back, though. I'm really missing being there myself these days. So I guess us old guys'll just have to remember the old days back in Aichi.
Until we get back, that is! For now, just look forward to everything that there is to experience here. It ain't all bad, after all. :-)
