人生の紆余曲折

Truth is Crueler than Fiction

From the New York Times:
Sex trafficking is truly the 21st century’s version of slavery. One of the differences from 19th-century slavery is that many of these modern slaves will die of AIDS by their late 20s.

This article made me wince. Several times. They say the only things certain in life are death and taxes. I would add human brutality to the list, although Kristof is right that the people like Sina are truly inspiring.

  • I read this article the other day, and I helplessly kept thinking if there was something I could do. It is really horrifying what human can do to other human...

What creeps me out the most is that the customers of those girls(or boys) who feel no shame about destroying the lives of young Vietnamees.

  • Indeed.

One can only hope that at the very least, those "customers" are unaware of the misery they are helping to perpetuate.

And I would further hope that if they ever find out that they would feel bad enough to try to dissuage others from making the same mistake.
